Awami League General Secretary and Minister of Road Transport and Bridges, Obaidul Quader, emphasized on Saturday that Members of Parliament (MPs) are not permitted to influence or meddle in upazila elections.
Speaking with the party's leaders and workers from the Rangpur division in Dhaka, Quader stressed that upazila elections will be conducted without party symbols, emphasizing the importance of ensuring the success of the elections.
Quader noted that the prime minister has provided opportunities for party members to participate in the elections through open competition, addressing the request of party leaders and workers to contest in a new manner.
He emphasized the need for a free and fair election without any external influence, stating that the organizational process has been under constant monitoring. Quader warned of organizational consequences for any party member found violating party discipline.
Reflecting on the national elections, Quader mentioned that despite concerns, the elections were successfully completed, with Sheikh Hasina's reelection as Prime Minister receiving congratulations from 80 countries and 32 organizations. He urged party members to establish connections with the public and strengthen organizational structures between districts, upazilas, and unions.
