To ensure a smooth and hassle-free travel experience for holidaymakers during Eid-ul-Azha, the movement of heavy vehicles such as trucks, covered vans, and lorries—except for those carrying sacrificial animals—will be suspended on highways for seven days. This suspension will start three days before Eid-ul-Azha and continue until three days after the festival.
In addition, all CNG refueling stations across the country will remain open 24 hours a day for a period of 12 days, beginning seven days before Eid-ul-Azha. This decision aims to facilitate uninterrupted travel and reduce congestion at fuel stations during the holiday period.
The decisions were made during a meeting held at BRTA Bhaban, chaired by Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader. Key attendees included:
- Road Transport and Highways Division Secretary ABM Amin Ullah Nuri
- Bridges Division Secretary Md Manjur Hossain
- DMTCL Managing Director MAN Siddique
- BRTA Chairman Nur Mohammad Majumder
- BRTC Chairman Md Tajul Islam
- Roads and Highways Department Chief Engineer Syed Mainul Hasan
- Additional Inspector General of Bangladesh Police Md Atiqul Islam
- Bangladesh Road Transport Owners Association (BRTWA) President Mashiur Rahman Ranga
- BRTWA Secretary General Khandaker Enayetullah
These measures are intended to alleviate traffic congestion and ensure that travelers can reach their destinations safely and efficiently during the Eid holidays.
