Dhaka, Aug 09 (V7N) – Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus is set to visit the family of Abu Sayeed in Rangpur on Saturday, according to a statement from the Chief Adviser’s Press Wing.

Abu Sayeed, a student at Begum Rokeya University in Rangpur, was tragically killed by police gunfire on July 16 during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement. His death, which marked the first student fatality in the protests, ignited widespread agitation among student demonstrators and contributed to the downfall of the Awami League government on August 5.

In his first public address upon arriving in Dhaka on Thursday, Nobel Laureate Yunus paid tribute to Abu Sayeed. With a voice filled with emotion, he recalled the courage of the young student. “Abu Sayeed will forever remain in the hearts of the people of Bangladesh,” Yunus said, reflecting on the impact of Sayeed’s sacrifice. “His image will be etched in our memories. No one will forget the bravery of this young man who stood firm in the face of danger.”

Yunus’s visit to Sayeed’s family underscores his commitment to honoring the memory of those who have lost their lives in the struggle for justice and reform.
