Dhaka, August 21 — In a significant reshuffling within the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), seven officers holding the rank of Joint Commissioner have been transferred to new positions. This move is part of a broader restructuring of the police force following the recent political changes in Bangladesh.

The transfers were announced on Tuesday in an order signed by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner, Mainul Hasan. The reshuffle has seen three officers being reassigned to the DMP headquarters, while four others have been attached to different departments.

According to the order, Hasan Shaukat Ali has been posted to the Logistics Department, Khandaker Faridul Islam has been transferred to Traffic-South, Syed Haroon Or Rashid has been moved to the Cyber Security and Support Center-South, and Sufian Ahmed from the Cyber Security and Support Center-South has been transferred to Traffic-North.

Additionally, three officers have been attached to DMP headquarters: Mohammad Zayedul Alam, who was previously in Traffic-South; SM Mehedi Hasan; and Sudip Kumar Chakraborty, who was previously with Traffic-North.

This reshuffle follows the resignation of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on August 5, which has led to a significant shift in the country's political landscape. Under the interim government led by Nobel laureate Dr. Muhammad Yunus, there has been a concerted effort to overhaul both the police and public administration sectors. This restructuring is seen as a step towards ensuring transparency and accountability within the government and its agencies.
