Dhaka, August 23 — The Bangladesh Army has been deployed in six districts as the flood situation worsens in the northeastern and southeastern regions of the country. Army personnel are actively engaged in rescue operations to aid flood victims in Mirsarai of Chittagong, Burichong of Comilla, Akhaura of Brahmanbaria, Shaistaganj of Habiganj, and Kulaura of Moulvibazar.

In addition to rescue operations, five medical teams from the army have been deployed to provide medical assistance in Feni, Chittagong, Moulvibazar, and Habiganj.

According to a press release from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Thursday, soldiers from the 17 Infantry Division, 24 Infantry Division, and 33 Infantry Division of the Bangladesh Army are working tirelessly to evacuate people stranded in floodwaters to safety. The 33 Infantry Division, in particular, has been conducting rescue operations since Wednesday in Parashuram and Fulgazi upazilas of Feni.

So far, the army has rescued approximately 6,000 flood-affected individuals across the districts and relocated them to various shelters. Relief and food distribution efforts are ongoing to support the flood victims.

In addition, other formations of the Bangladesh Army are closely monitoring the flood situation in their respective areas and are prepared to assist the civilian administration as needed.

Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Waqar-Uz-Zaman has instructed the Bangladesh Army to continue these humanitarian efforts, serving as a symbol of the nation's confidence, until the flood situation normalizes.
