Dhaka, Aug 30 (V7N): Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reached out to Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus in a bid to strengthen diplomatic relations, highlighting the need for revitalizing bilateral ties through enhanced cooperation in various sectors.

During their conversation, Shehbaz Sharif congratulated Professor Muhammad Yunus on his recent appointment as Chief Adviser and praised his significant contributions to the socio-economic development of Bangladesh.

In a statement issued by the Pakistan Prime Minister's Office on Friday, Shehbaz Sharif expressed his sympathies for the devastation caused by the recent floods in Bangladesh.

Emphasizing the historical, religious, and cultural ties between Pakistan and Bangladesh, Shehbaz Sharif expressed a strong interest in enhancing commercial relations, cultural exchanges, and people-to-people connections.

Both leaders acknowledged the necessity of close collaboration for the progress and prosperity of the people of Pakistan and Bangladesh. They also concurred that greater regional cooperation could be instrumental in uplifting the lives of people across South Asia.

Bangladesh's interim government Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for the call.
