Dhaka, Sept 01 (V7N): A Dhaka court has imposed a travel ban on 10 individuals, including former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, his wife Lutful Tahmina Khan, daughter Safia Tasnim Khan, and son Safi Mudassir Khan.

The order was issued by Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Mohammad As-shams Jaglul Hossain's court on Sunday, as confirmed by Public Prosecutor Mir Ahmed Ali Salam, representing the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

Other individuals banned from leaving the country include Home Ministry Joint Secretary Dhananjoy Kumar Das, former DIG Molla Nazrul Islam, Home Ministry Acting Additional Secretary Md Harun-Or-Rashid Biswas, Public Relations Officer Sharif Mahmud Apu, Administrative Officer Molla Ibrahim Hossain, and the home minister's Assistant Personal Secretary Monir Hossain.

The ACC's Deputy Director Jahangir Alam filed the application for the travel ban, which was argued in court by Public Prosecutor Mir Ahmed Ali Salam. The court issued the order following the hearing.

According to the ACC's application, an investigation is ongoing against Asaduzzaman Khan and others for allegedly accepting bribes amounting to crores of taka through syndicates in various offices under the Ministry of Home Affairs, related to transfers, promotions, manpower recruitment, and procurement.

The ACC cited reliable sources suggesting that the individuals involved might attempt to flee the country, which would hinder the proper investigation of the allegations.
