Dhaka, Sept 02 (V7N): A Dhaka court has issued a travel ban on 18 former ministers and eight members of parliament, including the former foreign minister of the Awami League government, Mohammad Hasan Mahmud.
The order was issued by Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Mohammad As-Shams Jaglul Hossain after a hearing on Monday, as confirmed by ACC Court Inspector Amir Hossain.
Among those banned from leaving the country are:
- Former Foreign Minister Hasan Mahmud
- Former State Minister for Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid
- Former State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury
- Former State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak
- Former State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Md Zakir Hossain
- Former Expatriates' Welfare Minister Imran Ahmed
- Former State Minister for Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources Md Enamul Haq
- Former State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development, and Cooperatives Swapan Bhattacharjee
- Former Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi
- Former State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Dr. Enamur Rahman
- Former Law Minister Anisul Huq
- Former Local Government, Rural Development, and Cooperatives Minister Md Tajul Islam
- Former Religious Affairs Minister Faridul Haque Khan
- Former Textiles and Jute Minister Golam Dastagir Gazi
- Former State Minister for Youth and Sports Md Zahid Ahsan Russell
- Former State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Mohibbur Rahman
- Former Water Resources Minister Anwar Hossain
- Former Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu
Additionally, the court has imposed travel restrictions on several parliamentarians.
Previously, ACC Deputy Director Md Jahangir Alam requested a ban on the emigration of 10 former ministers and three members of parliament, with ACC Public Prosecutor Mir Ahmed Ali Salam representing the ACC in court.
Another application was submitted by ACC Deputy Director Md Mostafizur Rahman, seeking a travel ban on eight former ministers and five members of parliament, with Public Prosecutor Mahmud Hossain Jahangir representing the ACC.
The court issued the travel bans following the hearings of these two separate applications.
