Dhaka, Sept 03 (V7N): The Editors' Council, a national organization of newspaper editors, has submitted several proposals to the interim government, including the immediate repeal of laws that enable the persecution of journalists, with a view to future reforms.

The council presented these proposals during a meeting with the interim government's chief adviser, Dr. Muhammad Yunus, at the State Guest House Jamuna on Tuesday.

Prothom Alo Editor Matiur Rahman, The Daily Star Editor Mahfuz Anam, The New Age Editor Nurul Kabir, Jugantor Editor Saiful Alam, The Business Standard Editor Inam Ahmed, and Kalbela Editor Santosh Sharma, among others, were present at the meeting.

Later, Mahfuz Anam, also president of the Editors' Council, briefed journalists outside the guest house.
