Dhaka, Sep 04 (V7N) — After serving as the familiar and steadfast face of law enforcement at Dhaka Medical College (DMK) Hospital for nearly a decade, Inspector Bachchu Mia has officially stepped down from his post. On Tuesday, he was transferred back to Rajarbagh Police Lines, marking the end of his long tenure at the DMK Hospital's police outpost.

Inspector Bachchu Mia, who had become a go-to source for the media, has been a fixture at the DMK Hospital for the past eight years. Throughout his service, he provided crucial information on numerous incidents, confirming details for news reports about accidents, murders, and unusual deaths.

Bachchu Mia’s association with the DMK Hospital began in 2013, where he served for a few months before being deployed to a United Nations peacekeeping mission. He returned to the DMK Hospital in 2016, assuming the role of in-charge at the police outpost. His dedication and service were recognised with a promotion to Inspector in 2018.

Beyond his duties at the hospital, Bachchu Mia was also responsible for coordinating the treatment of injured policemen across the country, ensuring that they received timely and appropriate care.

As he prepares for retirement, with his service officially concluding in mid-October, Bachchu Mia reflects on his role at the hospital. He noted that his primary responsibility was to record data on injuries and fatalities arising from various incidents, and to take swift action on any occurrences within the hospital premises, coordinating closely with the Shahbagh Police Station.

Following his departure, Inspector Farooq, who previously served at the Mirpur Police Lines, has taken over as the new in-charge of the DMK Hospital police outpost. Farooq steps into the role with the challenge of upholding the standards set by his predecessor.

As Inspector Bachchu Mia transitions to retirement, his long and distinguished career in law enforcement is remembered with respect and appreciation, both within the police force and the wider community.
