Dhaka, Sep 12 (V7N) – The chief advisor of Bangladesh's interim government, Dr. Muhammad Yunus, will meet with business leaders on Thursday to discuss key economic issues impacting the country. The "National Business Dialogue," organized by the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Bangladesh, will take place at the Hotel Intercontinental in the capital. The event will be presided over by ICC president Mahbubur Rahman.

Representatives from 15 prominent business organizations, including FBCCI, BGMEA, DCCI, MCCI, FICCI, BAB, BKMEA, and the Bangladesh Chamber of Industries, are expected to participate. This high-level dialogue comes at a crucial time, as Bangladesh's economy faces significant challenges in the wake of political upheaval and natural disasters.

Dr. Yunus assumed office as chief advisor on August 8, 2024, following the resignation of the Awami League government amid a popular uprising led by the anti-discrimination student movement. His interim government is tasked with stabilizing the country while navigating numerous economic obstacles, including the aftermath of devastating floods in 11 districts and growing labour unrest in the garment and pharmaceutical industries.

The garment sector, one of Bangladesh’s most crucial industries, has been particularly affected, with hundreds of factories shutting down in areas such as Ashulia and Gazipur due to strikes and unrest. Business leaders are expected to raise these concerns, along with other pressing issues, during the dialogue in hopes of finding solutions to restore stability and growth to the economy.
