New York, Sep 21 (V7N)— Nobel laureate and Chief Advisor of Bangladesh's interim government, Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, is set to deliver a speech at the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York on September 27.

Chief Advisor’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam shared with the media that Dr. Yunus’s speech will highlight the heroism of the August 5 coup, where students played a pivotal role in the uprising against fascism, marking a new chapter in Bangladesh's history.

The Chief Advisor is expected to reflect on how students sacrificed their lives to rise against dictatorial rule, eventually bringing about a successful revolution that has instilled fresh hopes and dreams in the hearts of the Bangladeshi people.

Shafiqul Alam also stated that the speech will focus on Bangladesh's "second victory," outlining the democratic values, good governance, and reform initiatives undertaken by the interim government. This includes reforms in the electoral system aimed at building an economically prosperous and democratically robust Bangladesh.

Dr. Yunus will also address the global community regarding the new realities in Bangladesh following the fall of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's dictatorial regime. His speech will present Bangladesh’s renewed philosophy of governance and aspirations for a brighter future.

In his address, Yunus will call on the international community to support Bangladesh's journey, rising above geopolitical tensions to focus on shared progress.

Additionally, Dr. Yunus is expected to engage in meetings with top leaders from various countries and participate in other events on the sidelines of the UNGA session.
