Before month of Ramadan, the Bangladeshi government would be able to provide the market with sugar and onions that are imported from India, stated State Minister for Commerce Ahasanul Islam Titu on Sunday.

Speaking to reporters at the Secretariat, he stated, "We hope we would be able to import products as per our demand. Already a proposal for importing 50,000 mts of onion and one lakh mts of sugar was sent to India and got assurance from them about 20,000 mts of onion and 50,000 mts of sugar."

The foreign minister stated that we would hear positive news concerning the supply of onions and sugar by Thursday, having received assurances about this from India.

Furthermore, he continued, the administration is attempting to import necessities from other nearby nations.

The junior minister said that the task force committee would meet on Tuesday and that it is anticipated that the price of edible oil will be determined at the meeting.

He said that the government will take steps to prevent an increase in oil prices after regulating the price of edible oil and guaranteeing field-level market surveillance throughout Ramadan.
