Dhaka, Mar 21 (V7N) – Shoe shops on Elephant Road, one of the capital's busiest shopping hubs, are facing a severe shortage of customers this Eid season. Even on the third Friday of Ramadan, which is typically a peak shopping day, customer turnout remained low, leaving shopkeepers worried about losses.

According to shop owners, this year's slow sales will affect not just Eid but the entire season, as they are unable to clear stock as expected. Many shops were seen with idle staff, while customers who did visit often left without making a purchase.

In contrast, clothing stores on Elephant Road saw some foot traffic, though lower than in previous years. Customers, particularly young shoppers, were seen buying Panjabis and other traditional attire for Eid.

While there are no major complaints about pricing, vendors remain hopeful that sales will pick up in the final week before Eid, as last-minute shoppers begin to flood the markets.
