Dhaka, Mar 29 (V7N) -Gold prices have surged again in the local market, reaching an all-time high ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr.

The price of 22-carat gold has jumped to Tk157,872 per bhori, the highest in the country's history.

The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (Bajus) announced the price hike in a notice on Friday night.

Until now, 22-carat gold was priced at Tk156,099 per bhori, marking an increase of Tk1,773 per bhori.

The new rates, effective from Saturday, are as follows:
- 22-carat gold – Tk157,872 per bhori
- 21-carat gold – Tk150,699 per bhori
- 18-carat gold – Tk129,167 per bhori
- Traditional gold – Tk106,539 per bhori

Bajus attributed the price hike to adjustments in line with the international market.
