The Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) has undertaken the procurement of 8,000 tons of lentils and 10,000 tons of sugar for its Open Market Sale (OMS) program during the holy month of Ramadan. Two separate proposals presented by the Ministry of Commerce on behalf of TCB were approved by the Cabinet Committee on Government Purchases (CCGP) during its meeting on Wednesday, chaired by Finance Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali.

Under these proposals, TCB will procure 8,000 tons of lentils from Agrigo Trading Ltd of India through an open tender, totaling Tk76.64 crore. The cost per kilogram of lentils is estimated at Tk100.80. Additionally, TCB will acquire 10,000 tons of sugar from the state-owned Bangladesh Sugar and Food Industries Corporation (BSFIC) using the direct purchase method (DPM), with each kilogram of sugar priced at Tk160.
