The interim government has officially accepted the resignation of Abdur Rouf Talukder, the former governor of Bangladesh Bank. A circular was issued today (August 12) confirming the acceptance.

According to the circular, Abdur Rouf Talukder submitted his resignation on Thursday (August 9) via a letter addressed to the Secretary of Financial Institutions. The government has now formally accepted his resignation.

Abdur Rouf Talukder took on the role of Bangladesh Bank governor on July 4, 2022, under the provisions of the Bangladesh Bank Order 1972 (President's Order No. 127 of 1972) for a tenure of four years.

His resignation is part of a broader wave of resignations from top executives across various public and private institutions in the wake of the resignation of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
