Capital's Buriganga Bridge is dangerous, so initiatives have been taken to renovate it. That is why the traffic department of Dhaka Metropolitan Police has given instructions to use alternative routes for traffic in 21 districts until the renovation work is completed. As an alternative, directions have been given to drive through Daulatdia-Paturia.

Additional Commissioner Munibur Rahman gave this information at a press conference at DMP headquarters on Sunday (18 February).

He said that since the Buriganga Bridge is dangerous, it has been decided to use an alternative route until it is repaired. The two girders of the bridge will be repaired from February 22 to March 8. No vehicles will be allowed to pass through it during this time. According to the instructions, vehicles are asked to go to Dauldia, Paturia, Nabinagar, Aminbazar, Gabtali in case of entry and exit. Besides, it is also informed that the passenger bus will stop at Gabtali instead of Syedabad.

Traffic police of DMP have instructed vehicles in 6 districts of Barisal division, 10 districts of Khulna and 5 districts of Faridpur region to use alternative routes.
