In gaining development experience, councilors of the Mymensingh City Corporation visited the Rajshahi City Corporation as part of a mutual learning program organized within the framework of a training course by the National Institute of Local Government (NILG).

As part of their first day's participation, on Monday (May 27th) afternoon, a consensus-building session was arranged in the City Hall conference room of the Rajshahi City Corporation. Among the attendees, notable guests included members of the Bangladesh Awami League's central committee and the honorable Mayor of the Rajshahi City Corporation, AHM Khairuzzaman Liton.

Addressing the gathering, Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton stated, "Under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, development is taking place across the country. The financial capabilities of municipal corporations have also increased compared to previous times. Prime Minister has allocated a significant approval of around 2700 crore takas for the development of Rajshahi Metropolitan City.

The work on that project is ongoing. Various development works such as road expansion, drainage construction, flyover construction, and installation of decorative streetlights have been implemented. Rajshahi has transformed into a clean, orderly, and livable city. With the sincere efforts of the city residents, this achievement has been made possible. Keeping this reputation in mind, we aspire to take Rajshahi even further."

He further mentioned, "Our revenue collection is low, yet we have managed to develop amid limited resources. Various initiatives have been taken to increase revenue collection. The Rajshahi City Corporation's area has seen a quadruple increase in its dimensions. Development and provision of civic amenities will be ensured in the expanded areas."

Panel Mayor-1 of the Mymensingh City Corporation, Shafiqul Islam, expressed, "If I hadn't come to Rajshahi, I wouldn't have understood how beautiful this city is. I have traveled to many countries around the world, yet I found the charm of foreign cities here. A city can be beautified to such an extent that without experiencing it firsthand, it's hard to comprehend. Rajshahi is a Green City, a Clean City. We couldn't shape our city in such a manner. The experience gained from Rajshahi will guide us in building Mymensingh City."

During the event, Mayor Ikramul Haque Titu, on behalf of the Mymensingh City Corporation, extended heartfelt congratulations and respect to the Mayor and councilors of the Rajshahi City Corporation. In return, greetings and gifts were presented to the Mayor and councilors of the Mymensingh City Corporation from the Rajshahi side.
