Dhaka, Oct 08 (V7N)— Former Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Saber Hossain Chowdhury has been granted bail in six criminal cases, including murder and attempted murder. The cases involve charges filed at Khilgaon and Paltan police stations in Dhaka.

On Tuesday, Dhaka's Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Mehdi Hasan's court granted Chowdhury bail in four cases registered at Khilgaon police station, which include two murder cases and two attempted murder charges. In addition, Judge Ziadur Rahman granted bail in two more murder cases related to Paltan police station.

Prosecution lawyer Asadul Islam stated that Saber Hossain Chowdhury has no remaining legal restrictions on his bail as there are no other active cases against him.

Saber Hossain Chowdhury, a former Member of Parliament for Dhaka-9 Constituency, was arrested by the Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Branch (DB) from the Gulshan area of the capital on Sunday evening. He had been remanded for five days in connection with the murder case of BNP worker Maqbul at Paltan Model Police Station.

The cases against him involve serious charges, but the court's decision to grant bail signals an important legal development in the proceedings.
