At least 2,000 people were injured and 1,138 people died after the illegally constructed Rana Plaza building in Savar, which housed five garment factories, collapsed on April 24, 2013.

The appropriate trial court was instructed by the Supreme Court's Appellate Division (SC) to wrap up the copious murder case that the police had brought concerning the 2013 collapse of Rana Plaza in Savar, which led to the deaths of over a thousand garment workers, on Monday, January 15.

A chamber court ruling that delayed Sohel Rana's bail was also maintained by a four-member Appellate Division bench led by Chief Justice Obaidul Hassan.

Until the matter is resolved, the Appellate Division's bail order will be in effect.

The state was represented by Deputy Attorney General Sarowar Hossain Bappi, and the accused was defended by attorney Md Kamrul Islam.

In the murder case, Sohel Rana was granted bail by the High Court (HC) on April 6 of last year, pending the prosecution's filing of a motion for a stay order.

The SC Chamber Court forwarded the plea to the Appellate Division's regular bench on April 9 after staying the HC ruling.

The Appellate Division issued a rule on July 10th, requesting that the state's petition be kept on hold and directing that the bail order (HC order) be delayed until the petition was resolved.

At last, the petition was heard by the Appellate Division, which directed the lower court to conclude the case today.

On April 24, 2013, the illegally built Rana Plaza building in Savar, which contained five garment companies, collapsed, leaving over 2,000 people injured and 1,138 people dead.
