On Wednesday, May 8th, a court in Dhaka placed Sohel Siraj, the owner of the "Kacchi Bhai" restaurant on Bailey Road, on a two-day police remand in connection with a case filed over the fatal fire incident that occurred on February 29.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Tahmina Haque issued the order after the investigation officer of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Masud Parvez, presented Sohel before the court with a five-day remand prayer.
Sohel Siraj was arrested by immigration police upon his arrival at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) from Malaysia on Tuesday night.
The case was filed on March 1 by Mohammad Shahidul Islam, sub-inspector of Ramna Model Police Station, against Amin Mohammad Group and three others, accusing them of causing death by negligence and attempted murder.
The tragic fire at the Green Cozy Cottage shopping mall on Bailey Road on February 29 resulted in the loss of 46 lives, including 8 children and 18 women.
