Intelligence reports had indicated that a significant quantity of food and fuel oil was being trafficked illegally from Shahpori Island to Myanmar to avoid paying customs duties.

Acting on this information, the BCG Outpost Shahpari conducted a special operation in the Jhowban region near Shahpori Island.

At around 5 am on March 3rd, a wooden boat with an engine was spotted on the Naf River, which raised suspicions. The Coast Guard pursued the boat and took it from the river.

During the search, diesel, sugar, biscuits, and garlic were found on board. During a recent operation by the Bangladesh Coast Guard at Teknaf, six smugglers were apprehended along with a large amount of food and gasoline.

The information was confirmed by Coast Guard Chittagong East Zone Media Officer Lieutenant Tahsin Rahman. The Coast Guard conducted an operation that led to the apprehension of Six smugglers.

The individuals were identified as Ridowan (22), Md. Taiyab (43), Md. Salim (26), Md. Jasim Uddin (18), Shafi Ullah ( 38), Baroitali Teknaf.and Md. Mojibullah (18). All of them are residents of Ward No. 1 of Teknaf Mita Panirchhara.

The Teknaf Model Police Station received the smugglers and the seized goods to initiate legal proceedings against them.
