In a raid conducted at a Rohingya camp in Ukhiya, Cox's Bazar, the Armed Police Battalion (APBN) arrested a top commander of the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) along with a cache of weapons and ammunition.

During the operation, the authorities recovered 2 foreign pistols, 1 locally-made one-shooter gun, 2 medium-sized one-shooter guns, 20 rounds of rifle ammunition, 2 pistol rounds, 1 short gun cartridge, and 20 empty rifle shells along with 3 empty pistol shells.

The operation took place early Thursday morning in the Irani Pahari area of the 20th Rohingya camp in Ukhiya.

The arrested individual, Abdullah (32), is the son of Modasser from block D-51 of the 3rd Rohingya camp in Ukhiya. Abdullah has multiple cases filed against him at Ukhiya police station.

Deputy Commander (Superintendent of Police) Mohammad Arefin Jewel of the 14th APBN disclosed this information during a press briefing at the APBN office at noon on Thursday.

He stated that early Thursday morning, they managed to arrest ARSA’s top terrorist Abdullah from a shed in the 20th Extension Rohingya Camp in Ukhiya. Upon searching his body and bag, they discovered a large quantity of both local and foreign weapons and ammunition. He added that legal actions against the arrested individual are in process.

It was reported that Abdullah, the arrested ARSA commander, had recently been released on bail from jail and had become active again.

Ukhiya police station has eight murder cases filed against him.

The commander of the 14th Armed Police Battalion, Mohammad Iqbal, confirmed the authenticity of the operation, stating it was conducted based on confidential information.
