Protests and Human Chain Demand Justice for the Murder of Mosque Imam and Assistant Superintendent of Rongshati Dakhil Madrasa.
Miami, July 15 (V7N) – On Sunday, July 14, a human chain and protest rally were held in Kalmakanda, Netrokona, demanding justice for the murder of Maulana Abdul Baten (60), the imam of a mosque and assistant superintendent of Rongshati Dakhil Madrasa, who was stabbed by assailants.
Despite nearly a month passing since the murder, no clues have been uncovered, leading to widespread anger. The human chain lasted an hour and took place at the Rongshati Union Council intersection around 1:30 PM. Approximately a hundred people, including teachers, students, and individuals from various professions, participated.
Speakers at the event included District Council Member S.M. Alomgir Golap, Head Teacher of Rongshati High School Md. Sirajul Islam, President of Rongshati Dakhil Madrasa Md. Aftab Uddin, and Superintendent Md. Mokhlesur Rahman, among others.
Participants of the human chain demanded the swift uncovering of the mystery behind the murder and called for the execution of the culprits.
It is noteworthy that on the night of June 16, Maulana Abdul Baten was stabbed by assailants in the sleeping quarters on the veranda of Bishauti Jame Mosque in Rongshati Union, Kalmakanda Upazila. He succumbed to his injuries the following day at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital. On June 19, the deceased's son, Badiuzzaman Badi, filed a murder case against unknown assailants. The Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) is currently investigating the case.
