Ashulia, Sep 26 (V7N)- In a swift police operation, Ashulia Thana Police arrested four gamblers and seized Tk 2.54 lakh during a raid on a gambling den in the Bagabari Bazar area of Savar's Ashulia on Wednesday night. The operation was confirmed by Sub-Inspector (SI) Masood Al Mamun on Thursday afternoon.

The arrested individuals have been identified as:

Mahmud Hasan Jalal (47), son of the late Badr Uddin, from Putijana, Phulbaria Police Station, Mymensingh.
Zafar Ali, son of the late Zafar Ali, from Taltala, Ghatail Police Station, Tangail.
Abdul Jabbar (52), son of the late Siddiqur Rahman, from North Ghazirchat, Ashulia.
Sabikul Islam Nadeem (37), son of the late Badsha Sheikh, from Khetabkha, Rajarhat Police Station, Kurigram.

According to the police, several others managed to escape during the raid, which took place around 9:30 p.m. on the fourth floor of a building owned by a man named Saidur. The police recovered Tk 2,54,063 in gambling money, two motorcycles, and other gambling equipment from the scene.

SI Masood Al Mamun said the raid was conducted after receiving intelligence about illegal gambling activities in the area. "When we arrived at the location, the suspects attempted to flee. However, we were able to apprehend four individuals," he stated.

A case has been filed under the Gambling Act, and the accused were sent to court on Thursday afternoon for further legal proceedings. Police are continuing their investigation to apprehend those who escaped during the raid.

Gambling activities remain a significant issue in the Ashulia area, and law enforcement authorities have vowed to take strict action against those involved in such illegal practices.
