Khagrachhari, August 7 (V7N) – As part of a nationwide program commemorating the anniversary of what it terms the fall of the Hasina government, the Khagrachhari district unit of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) organized a victory procession and public gathering on Wednesday.

The event began with a victory march from Chengi Square in Khagrachhari Sadar, which moved through key roads in the town before converging at the central Mukta Mancha for a mass rally. Leaders from the district BNP and affiliated wings addressed the gathering, calling for continued unity and mobilization ahead of upcoming national challenges.

Speakers at the rally included Khagrachhari district BNP President and BNP Central Employment Affairs Secretary Wadud Bhuiyan, Vice President Probhin Chandra Chakma, General Secretary MN Abshar, Joint Secretaries Advocate Malek Mintu, Mosharraf Hossain, Animesh Chakma Rinku, and Organizational Secretary Abdur Rob Raja, among others.

Participants from all nine upazilas and three municipal BNP units across the district took part in the procession, along with activists from BNP's affiliated organizations, including the Jubo Dal, Chhatra Dal, and others.

In their speeches, BNP leaders emphasized the need for grassroots mobilization and unity among party ranks. They described the rally as a demonstration of the people’s will to uphold democracy and resist authoritarianism, reiterating the party’s demand for free and fair elections under a non-partisan interim administration.

The event also served as a platform to condemn what the organizers described as the “undemocratic practices” of the previous government and to celebrate what they claim was its political downfall following mass protests in July of the previous year.

Security was maintained peacefully throughout the event, with a visible police presence ensuring public order during the large turnout.
