Tangail, Oct 01 (V7N) – The water levels of rivers flowing through Tangail district have started rising again, causing concern among residents in the Char areas. According to the Tangail Water Development Board, water levels have significantly increased across multiple rivers over the past 24 hours, as of 9 AM on Tuesday.

Key rivers in the region, including the Jhenai, Dhaleswari, Brahmaputra-Yamuna, Fatikjani, and Banshai, have all experienced notable surges:
- Jhenai River: Water level rose by 68 cm at Jokarchar point.
- Dhaleswari River: Increased by 42 cm at Elasin point.
- Brahmaputra-Yamuna River: Water level rose by 20 cm at Porabari point.
- Fatikjani River: Increased by 10 cm at Nalchapa point.
- Banshai River: Rose by 3 cm at Kauljani point and 14 cm at Madhupur point.

This sudden rise in river water levels has sparked fears of renewed flooding, particularly in the low-lying Char areas, which are often vulnerable to seasonal floods. Local residents are bracing for the potential impact, fearing that their homes, crops, and livelihoods may once again be at risk from floodwaters.

The authorities have yet to issue any official flood warnings, but residents are closely monitoring the situation as they prepare for possible flooding in the coming days.
