Naogaon, Oct 14 (V7N) — A dense fog blanketed the northern district of Naogaon on Monday morning, creating an atmosphere reminiscent of winter’s arrival. The region, known for its cooler climate during the year-end, experienced its first significant fog of the season, accompanied by a mild chill in the air.

Starting from dawn, the thick fog persisted until 9 AM, enveloping both the town and surrounding countryside. Even after the sun briefly appeared, the fog quickly returned, shrouding the district once again. Long-distance vehicles and even smaller ones were seen driving with their headlights on, carefully navigating through the low visibility.

Locals expressed excitement at this early sign of winter. Rahman Ali, a resident of the Taj Mor area in Naogaon Sadar Upazila, shared, “It was a pleasant surprise to step outside in the morning and see fog all around. It truly felt like the beginning of winter.”

Subal Chandra, from Naogaon’s Old Kat Hati Mohalla, echoed a similar sentiment: “The fog made it feel like winter has already arrived, though the cold isn't intense yet.”

Despite the appearance of the fog, temperatures remained relatively mild. According to Mizanur Rahman , officer-in-charge of the Badalgachi Meteorological Observatory , Naogaon recorded a minimum temperature of 24.2°C at 6 AM. He noted, “While it is still sunny and warm during the day, the evening temperatures are dropping, signaling the departure of the monsoon season. This can be considered a harbinger of winter, which is expected to set in by November.”

As Naogaon residents experience these early signs of winter, many are preparing for the colder months ahead, with expectations of more fog and dropping temperatures in the coming weeks.
