Pabna Oct 19, V7N- Fishery and livestock advisor Farida Akhtar highlighted the significant issue of middlemen contributing to the rising prices of products, including eggs. She pointed out that the large egg production companies in the country can only meet 20 to 25 percent of the total demand, leaving marginal farmers to supply the remainder.

In her speech as the chief guest at an exchange meeting with fishermen and marginal farmers in Pabna district, held on Saturday, October 19, in the conference room of the Pabna District Commissioner's office, she suggested that producers could directly supply eggs to consumers through cooperatives. This approach would benefit both producers and customers, allowing consumers to purchase eggs at more affordable prices.

The meeting also featured remarks from Pabna Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Mofizul Islam and Secretary of the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock Syed Mahmud Belal Haider. Numerous fishermen and farmers from various upazilas of Pabna attended the event, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between producers and consumers to address the challenges in the market.
