Khulna, Nov 16 (V7N)- It's coming.  In the meantime, various winter vegetables have started arriving in the markets of upazilas including Khulna metropolis.  But the price is still high.  There is also extreme volatility in the commodity markets.  Sometimes the price of one or two products is slightly reduced but in most cases the price is higher.  And the additional price has left the low-income people in trouble.  Many people are struggling to run their families in the rising market.

This picture was seen in several markets including Paikgacha Upazila Sadar Chadkhali Baka Kapilbuni.  The buyers are angry with the shopkeepers about this increase in the price of goods.  At the beginning of winter, the prices of all kinds of vegetables skyrocket in the market.  Eggplant is being sold at Tk 80 per kg, shrimp at Tk 60, dhundul at Tk 60, kachur lati at Tk 80, chichinga at Tk 60, barbati at Tk 60, bitter gourd at Tk 90, cucumber at Tk 80, beans at Tk 80, kachur mukhi at Tk 80 per kg, rice at Tk 40 per kg.  , potal at Tk 60, sweet pumpkin at Tk 60 per kg, tomato at Tk 120, papaya at Tk 40, radish at Tk 60, small size cauliflower at Tk 120 per piece, kankarol at Tk 90 per kg and green pepper at Tk 140.

Shahin Molla, who came to market in Katenga market, said, 'The price of vegetables is hot.  If you go to the side, the body is burning.  Can't afford to buy.  Everything used to be done with money, now it is not possible to eat with that money.  How will I stay then?  Suffering everywhere yet I never saw any market monitoring initiative.

On the other hand, about the price of vegetables, Sajjadul, a vegetable seller in Chadkhali market, said, "The price of vegetables has been very high for the past few days.  Because we are not getting winter vegetables in the market due to low production.  What I am getting has to be purchased at a higher price.  Due to which we also have to sell at a higher price.  The price of seven-eight types of vegetables in the market will touch the century.  All other vegetables in the house of 60 to 70 rupees.

People in the know say that the price of vegetables in the market is continuously increasing.  Most of the new vegetables come in the market during this time.  But the market price is high.  But we think if the market is properly monitored then the price will come down a lot.  But when the winter is completely over, all the new vegetables will come in the market, then the price of vegetables will come down a lot.  Now the supply of vegetables in the market is relatively less, that's why the market is going slightly higher.
