Rajshahi, Jan 13 (V7N) — Train services have resumed after being suspended due to the derailment of the Titumir Express early Monday morning. The accident occurred at 6:36 am in the Belpukur area, shortly after the train departed Rajshahi for Saidpur.
Rajshahi Railway Station Manager Abul Kalam Azad confirmed that two wheels of a bogie came off the tracks, causing the disruption. The rescue operation was completed, and train traffic was restored around 10:30 am.
Ahsan Ullah, Chief Operating Officer of the Western Railway, explained that the derailment caused significant delays for other services, including the Rajshahi-Dhaka-bound Madhumoti Express (6:40 am), the non-stop Banalata Express (7:00 am), and the Silk City Express (7:40 am), which were all stranded at the station.
The single-line track in the area complicated the rescue operation, necessitating a temporary suspension of train services. Once the derailed bogie was removed, normal operations resumed.
Passengers have been advised to check schedules for any residual delays as services normalize. Authorities are investigating the cause of the derailment.
