Chittagong, Jan 29 (V7N)— A total of 37,000 tons of rice from neighbouring India and Myanmar has arrived at Chittagong Port, according to a press release from the Ministry of Food on Wednesday.

The shipment includes 15,000 tons of parboiled rice from India, imported through an open tender, and 22,000 tons from Myanmar, brought in under a government-to-government (G2G) agreement. The Indian rice arrived on the vessel MV BMC Pandora, while the Myanmar shipment was transported by MV ATN Victory.

The Food Ministry stated that all necessary measures have been taken to ensure the swift unloading of the rice to maintain adequate food supply and price stability in the domestic market.

The import of rice from neighbouring countries is part of the government's ongoing efforts to stabilise food security and prevent shortages.
