Pabna, Apr 7 (V7N) – A 15-year-old member of a teenage gang has been arrested in Santhia upazila of Pabna during an operation conducted by army personnel. The arrest was made on charges of creating unrest and tension in the local area by displaying homemade weapons in a show of dominance.

"Police have arrested a member of a teenage gang in Pabna's Santhia on charges of creating anarchy and tension in the area by displaying domestic weapons due to their dominance," a local police official confirmed.

The arrest of Lam Hossain, son of Abdullah Pramanik from Par Karamja village in Santhia upazila, occurred on Sunday afternoon. Several country-made weapons were confiscated during the operation.

"A team of army personnel arrested him from Par Karamja village in Santhia upazila on Sunday afternoon (April 6). Several country-made weapons were seized during the arrest. The arrested person is Lam Hossain (15), son of Abdullah Pramanik of Par Karamja village in the upazila," an army spokesperson stated.

Army Captain Al Amin Khan, with identification number BA-10112, confirmed the arrest, stating that an army patrol team conducted the raid following complaints from local residents. Lam Hossain was apprehended along with a cache of local weapons.

"Army BA-10112 Captain Al Amin Khan confirmed the matter and said that an army patrol team conducted a raid based on complaints from locals and arrested Lam Hossain (15) along with local weapons," Captain Al Amin Khan reported.

Authorities seized a total of ten different types of homemade weapons from the teenager, including a ramda (a type of machete), knives, and a chapati (a wide, flat knife). Following his arrest by the army, Lam Hossain was handed over to the Santhia Police Station. On Monday afternoon, police presented him before the court, which subsequently ordered his detention in jail.

"Ten different types of country-made weapons, including a ramda, knife, and chapati, were seized from the arrested teenager. He was later handed over to Santhia Police Station. The police sent him to jail through the court on Monday afternoon," a police official confirmed.

The army's involvement in this arrest highlights the concern over teenage gang activity and the proliferation of homemade weapons in the area. Local law enforcement is now handling the case.
