Abdul Awal, 42, a prisoner in the Meherpur District Jail, passed away. He had been convicted of narcotics offenses. The late Abdul Awal was the son of Rakibul Hossain, who lived in the Gangni Upazila district's Bamandi hamlet.

On Thursday, at 11:30, he unexpectedly became sick in the prison. After being moved by jail officials to Meherpur General Hospital, the attending physician pronounced him brought dead.
According to Meherpur District Jail's Md Amanullah, Abdul Awal was charged in a narcotics case. He was jailed by the court on January 15.
He became abruptly unwell on Thursday morning. The 250-bed Meherpur General Hospital received him. The attending physician pronounced him dead when he passed away in the afternoon.

The body has been brought to the morgue at Meherpur 250-bed General Hospital for an autopsy, according to sources from the emergency department. The investigation report will reveal the reason for the death.
