Rajshahi, Apr 11 (V7N) – The Rajshahi University (RU) administration has arrested two external students and handed them over to the police, accusing them of eve-teasing and secretly recording a video of a female student. The incident occurred on Thursday, April 10th, at approximately 6:30 PM local time on the road adjacent to Shaheed Shamsujoha Chattar on the university campus.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Nazmus Shakib, a first-year student of Barendra College, and Siam Al Hasan, a fellow first-year student from Shah Makhdum College. Both are not enrolled at Rajshahi University.

According to the victim student, after she passed through the university's main gate, she noticed several motorcycles following her. When she screamed out of fear, other students present at the scene reportedly witnessed one of the individuals recording her on video from behind.
"The victim student said that after crossing the main gate of the university, several motorcycles followed her. When she screamed in fear, the students present saw one of them recording her video from behind," a witness recounted.
Subsequently, university students apprehended the accused individuals and took them to the proctor's office. The proctor's body heard testimonies from the victim student and the accused. Following an investigation, the motorcycle riders involved were banned from entering the campus and released on bond. However, the two individuals specifically accused of recording the video were handed over to the Motihar Police Station.
"Later, the university students took the accused to the proctor's office. There, the proctor's body heard the statements of the aggrieved students and the concerned parties. After the investigation, the motorcycle riders were banned from entering the campus and released on bond. University Proctor Mahbubur Rahman stated that necessary actions are being taken against the accused. He also mentioned that police patrols have been усилены (increased) at the university gates to enhance security on the campus.

Abdul Malek, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Motihar Police Station, reported that no formal written complaint had been filed as of Friday afternoon. He added that appropriate legal action would be initiated if a complaint is received.

The incident has raised concerns about campus security and the safety of female students. Rajshahi University authorities have indicated their commitment to addressing the issue and ensuring a secure environment for their students.
