Tangail, Apr 25 (V7N) - A fish trader, Saiful Alam, was fatally stabbed by a robber in Delduar Upazila, Tangail. The incident occurred around 4:30 a.m. on Friday (April 25th) in the Dubail area along the Dhaka-Tangail highway.
The deceased, Saiful Alam, was the son of the late Sabbir Ahmed, residing in the Sakrail area of Tangail city.
According to police and relatives, Saiful Alam was traveling in a battery-powered auto-rickshaw with a fisherman around 3:30 a.m., en route to purchase fish fry from a hatchery in Mirzapur. Upon reaching the Dubail area of the highway, three robbers on a motorcycle intercepted their vehicle. The robbers then attempted to snatch cash and mobile phones using country-made weapons, including pistols. When Saiful Alam resisted, the robbers stabbed him before fleeing the scene. He was rescued and taken to Tangail General Hospital, but succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
Soheb Khan, the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Delduar Police Station, stated that the body would be handed over to the family after the completion of legal procedures. He added that a case is currently being processed regarding the incident.
