Jhalakathi, June 14 (V7N) – The District Intelligence Branch (DB) has arrested two individuals suspected of drug peddling and seized 30 pieces of Yaba during a raid in Kunihari village, Basonda Union, Jhalakathi. The operation took place at approximately 9:30 PM on June 13.
According to the District Intelligence Branch, a DB team led by Sub-Inspector (retd) Sujan Chandra Roy acted on confidential information indicating that individuals were present on the paved road in front of MR Bricks in Kunihari village with the intent to sell Yaba. The subsequent raid led to the arrest of two suspects.
The arrested individuals have been identified as:
Md. Monir Khan (42), son of Md. Badal Khan, residing at Bikna College Mor, Ward-01, Jhalokati Sadar Upazila.
Md. Nazrul Islam (39), son of Md. Matiur Rahman, residing at East Bikna, Ward-01, Jhalokati Sadar Upazila.
Police reported that 15 pieces of Yaba were recovered from the pants pocket of accused Monir Khan, and another 15 pieces were found in the lungi pocket of Nazrul Islam. The Yaba was seized after preparing a seizure list in the presence of witnesses.
The officer-in-charge of the district intelligence branch stated that a case under the Narcotics Control Act is currently being processed against the detainees. They also affirmed that anti-narcotics operations in the area will continue.
