The protest highlighted the plight of numerous drivers and workers facing harassment due to the lack of registration, calling on authorities to expedite the process and ensure their livelihood.
 
A human chain assembly was held in Rangpur, demanding registration for three-wheeler CNG and Mahindra vehicles operating on various roads.
 
The District CNG-Mahindra Owners and Workers Association organized this hour-long human chain assembly in front of the Rangpur Press Club at 11 AM on Saturday. CNG Mahindra owners and workers from different upazilas and union routes in the district participated in the event.
 
Participating in the human chain, Metropolitan Workers League Vice President Zakir Hossain Kanchan said, "There is no employment for a significant number of workers and unemployed people in Rangpur. As a result, many people buy CNG Mahindra vehicles on loan or credit to earn a living. The metropolitan police or Rangpur City Corporation have not yet initiated the process to provide legal registration for these vehicles. Consequently, drivers and workers of these CNG Mahindra vehicles are constantly harassed on the roads due to the lack of registration."
 
He further demanded that the government and relevant authorities quickly provide registration for around 500 of these vehicles in Rangpur, allowing them to operate legally.
 
Other speakers at the assembly noted that approximately 500 CNG Mahindra vehicles play an essential role in the communication system by operating on various remote roads in Rangpur district. Over 40,000 auto-rickshaws run in Rangpur city against only 8,000 registrations, causing significant inconvenience. However, workers who have bought environmentally friendly CNG Mahindra vehicles legally are being harassed on the roads for not having registration. Last week, all unregistered CNG Mahindra vehicles were banned in Rangpur, causing nearly 5,000 families involved with these vehicles to become unemployed. Therefore, they demand immediate legal registration and harassment-free operation on the roads for these vehicles. Otherwise, they warned of strict movements.
 
At the human chain, speeches were also given by Bitul Islam, President of the Mahiganj Branch; Mominul Islam, President of the Darshana Branch; and Shahidul Islam, President of the Badarganj Upazila Branch. CNG and Mahindra drivers and workers from various upazilas, unions, and all wards of the metropolitan area in Rangpur attended with banners and festoons, raising various demands.
