Due to the cyclone 'Remal' formed in the Bay of Bengal, the warning signals for the country's four seaports have been raised. Among them, Mongla and Payra seaports have been advised to hoist danger signal number 7, while Chattogram and Cox's Bazar seaports have been advised to hoist danger signal number 6.
 
This information was announced on the Meteorological Department's website on Saturday night (May 25).
 
Earlier, the Bangladesh Weather Observation Team (BWOT) reported that the deep depression over the Bay of Bengal turned into cyclone Remal at 7:10 PM. It is expected to make landfall as a Category-1 storm between the night of May 26 and the morning of May 27.
 
Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department stated in a bulletin that the deep depression over the east-central Bay of Bengal and the adjacent areas has intensified into cyclone Remal.
 
As of 6 PM, the cyclone was located 365 kilometers from Payra seaport, 405 kilometers from Mongla, 400 kilometers from Cox's Bazar, and 455 kilometers from Chattogram seaport.
 
Due to the cyclone, a tidal surge 3-5 feet higher than usual is expected in coastal areas. Additionally, heavy rainfall is likely in eight divisions, as mentioned in the bulletin by the Meteorological Department.
