Mongla june 19,(V7N)- An unexpected tornado blew away houses in Mongla. Electric poles fell, trees and fences were broken and scattered. Around 12 PM on Wednesday, the tornado hit Hajipara in Makardhon area on the outskirts of the municipal town, blowing away the house of Razzak Khan. 
 
The entire house was blown away and fell overturned onto the neighboring house of Mujibur. As a result, all the household items were scattered and damaged, getting soaked in the rain and causing extensive losses. The family is now under the open sky in the rain. Fortunately, there were no casualties as no one was in the house during the tornado.
 
Additionally, reports of damage to houses, trees, and electric poles have come in from various areas. Since noon, the entire Mongla has been without electricity due to fallen electric poles and broken wires. Although the storm has lessened, rain continues in Mongla along the coastal areas of the sea and the Sundarbans. This has created a kind of disaster-prone weather along the Mongla coast.
 
When contacted for information on the damages and assistance for the affected people, Upazila Executive Officer Nishat Tamanna and Upazila Project Implementation Officer Md. Jafar Rana did not receive their phones.
