Khagrachari, July 17 (V7N)- In protest against the conspiracy to abolish the 1900 Hill Tracts Regulation and to demand the reinstatement of the 5% indigenous quota in first and second-class government jobs, the Hill Students Council (PCP) organized a protest rally and assembly in Khagrachari.
The protest rally was initiated in the morning from the Khagrachari Municipal Town Hall by the leaders and activists of the PCP, supported by the JSS MN Larma faction. Later, speakers at the assembly held at Chengi Square in Khagrachari District voiced their support for the quota reform movement and demanded the reinstatement of the 5% indigenous quota.
The protest rally and assembly were presided over by the President of the Hill Students Council, Sujan Chakma. Speakers at the protest assembly included Gyanpriya Chakma, Nayan Tripura, Organizational Secretary Mantos Chakma, former Central General Secretary of PCP Amar Singh Chakma, PCP Deputy General Secretary Pintu Chakma Krittitt, and Central President of the Tripura Student Forum Nayan Tripura, among others.
Simultaneously, they protested against attempts to abolish the 1900 Hill Tracts Regulation. Earlier, the UPDF-supported Hill Students Council also organized a protest rally with the same demands. During the protest rally and assembly, they blocked the road for about half an hour.
