Four laborers who went missing in the Padma River in Rajshahi remain unaccounted for after a boat they were on sank in the Char Mazardiad area across from Rajshahi city on Sunday evening (September 1). Despite a rescue operation by the diving team of the Rajshahi Fire Service, the strong currents in the river have made it impossible to continue the search.

Of the 16 workers aboard the boat, 12 managed to swim to shore, but the four missing individuals—Raju (22), Sabuj (20), Farooq (19), and Mohammad Ali (38)—have not been found. The rescue team began their efforts late Sunday night but had to stop around 11 a.m. on Monday due to the dangerous conditions caused by the river's peak-season currents.

AKM Murshed, Assistant Director of the Rajshahi Fire Service, confirmed that the rescue operation has been halted indefinitely due to the strong current, and it will not resume for the time being.
