Kurigram, Sep 04 (V7N) - In Chilmari, Kurigram, a father has taken to holding a press conference to demand justice for his son's murder, which occurred 54 days ago, with no arrest of the suspect to date.
 
The press conference was held at 11 AM on Wednesday at the Chilmari Press Club office.
 
On July 19, the body of Jobayer Hossain Amin, a college student, was discovered floating in the Brahmaputra River a day after he went missing. Following the recovery of his mutilated body, his family filed a murder complaint.
 
Jobayer Hossain Amin (19) was the son of Abdul Jalil from Mandal Para village in the Thana Hat Union of Chilmari Upazila. He was a first-year Political Science student at Carmichael College.
 
At the press conference, Abdul Jalil Amin, the victim’s father, revealed that between 1 AM and 3 AM on July 19, his youngest son, Jobayer Hossain Amin (21), was murdered and his body was discarded beneath the BIWTA jetty at Chilmari river port.
 
The following day, the police retrieved the body, conducted a report, and handed it over to him after the post-mortem examination.
 
On July 21, a case was registered at Chilmari Model Police Station against Mohammad Sainul Swachh (21), son of Fazlul Haque, and Mohammad Yusuf Ahmed Zayed (21), son of Abdul Razzaq, along with 6-7 unnamed individuals. The case number is 06, GR No. 52/24 (Chilmari).
 
Abdul Jalil Amin further stated that the assigned investigating officer, CI Mohammad Najmul Haque of Chilmari River Police Outpost, has not yet arrested any suspects. The suspects were known to associate with his deceased son, and disputes between them might have led to the murder. Jobayer was taken from their home on a motorcycle on the night of July 18 and was later murdered at the Chilmari river port, where his body was found beneath the BIWTA jetty.
 
The father expressed frustration that, despite the specific names of the suspects in the case, no arrests have been made. He is urgently appealing to the authorities to arrest the suspects and bring them to justice without further delay.
