Khagrachari, Sep 04 (V7N) - In Khagrachari, following the recent fourth wave of flooding that impacted nearly a thousand families, the Vidyannand Foundation has launched a market offering goods for just one taka.
 
The initiative was inaugurated on Wednesday at 10 AM at the Khagrachari Cantonment School and College grounds by Khagrachari Region Commander Brigadier General Sharif Mohammad Aman Hasan, in partnership with the Vidyannand Foundation.
 
The event was also attended by notable figures including Sadar Army Zone Commander Lieutenant Colonel Abul Hasnat Jewel, Deputy Commander of 30 Bengal Khagrachari Region Major Md. Siddiqul Islam, G2I Major Md. Jabir Sobahan Miad, and Vidyannand Foundation Board Member Mohammad Jamal, along with representatives from the print and electronic media.
 
During the launch, Brigadier General Sharif Mohammad Aman Hasan explained that this market was set up to assist flood-affected, low-income individuals who usually cannot afford high-priced goods. The market allows shoppers to purchase items worth up to one thousand taka for only one taka. This initiative is expected to continue in the future. Additionally, construction materials and livestock have been provided to help rehabilitate ten flood-affected families.
 
He further highlighted that the Vidyannand Foundation, in response to the current market conditions and the needs of the flood victims, has undertaken this project to sell essential goods at a nominal price of one taka, which is both compassionate and praiseworthy.
 
At this one-taka market, flood victims can buy seven out of nineteen essential items, including rice, chicken, fish, onions, lentils, and oil, for just one taka. On the first day, 500 low-income individuals were able to purchase the items they needed, expressing their gratitude for the initiative.
