Dhaka, Mar 21 (V7N) – The Dhaka University Students' Union (DUCSU) elections are progressing steadily, with three committees actively working on the preparations. Vice-Chancellor Professor Niaz Ahmed Khan stated that 70% of the work related to the election has already been completed.
Speaking to reporters after a university event on Friday, the VC emphasized the need for a broad consensus before announcing the election date to ensure a smooth process. When asked whether the elections would take place in 2025, he hinted that it might not take that long, suggesting a possible earlier timeline.
Meanwhile, the Vice-Chancellor also addressed the ongoing issue of teachers not returning to classes despite the August 5 directive. He mentioned that some legal proceedings might be required to resolve the matter.
Earlier in the day, Professor Niaz Ahmed Khan participated in the university’s Forest Day celebration, where he planted a mahua tree on campus. A procession was later held from the Vice-Chancellor's office premises to mark the occasion.
