Bagerhat, July 11 (V7N)- In Bagerhat's Morelganj, a mobile library is now a beautiful sight, spreading the light of knowledge among school students with various books. 
 
Under the supervision of the Ministry of Culture, the Directorate of Public Libraries has been running a mobile library project across the country for the past six months, visiting different educational institutions in Bagerhat district.
 
On Wednesday, (July 10) at 11 am, the mobile library was seen at AP Kalikabari Government Primary School and Bolibunia Secondary School near Kalikabari Market in Bolibunia Union of the upazila. Children were gathered around the eye-catching mobile library, each holding a book. Students were picking up various types of books, including plays, novels, short stories, science, the history of the Liberation War, stories from the student life of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, and general knowledge books.
 
Asma El Husna, the officer in charge of this mobile library in Bagerhat, said that for the past six months, the mobile library has been distributing books to member students of various educational institutions in Morelganj, Kachua, and Fakirhat upazilas of Bagerhat district. Since 2007, this initiative has been conducted under the supervision of the Ministry of Culture, through the Directorate of Public Libraries' mobile library project, operating in 76 vehicles nationwide, each equipped with a Bangabandhu Corner. There is one mobile library vehicle in each district. Each school can have 25 regular student members.
 
Readers can borrow books with a refundable deposit of Tk 100. Additionally, a monthly maintenance fee of Tk 10 is collected from readers, paid in advance for six months.
