Dhaka, Jan 09 (V7N) —Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin has assured voters that the upcoming election will be more transparent and credible than in the past.
Speaking at a workshop titled "Challenges in the voter registration process and ways to overcome them" in Moulvibazar on Thursday, he highlighted the Election Commission’s commitment to ensuring that every voter can cast their own vote without external influence.

The CEC said: "Those visiting homes will convey a message to voters: this time, the election will not be like before. You will be able to cast your own vote.”

He added: “To achieve this, an awakening must be created among the people. Various campaigns will be conducted to ensure that all voters, including women, come to the polling centres."

He also said: "We want to deliver a free, fair, and acceptable election, without any doubt. Our goal is clear: we are not here to ensure victory for any party or group or prevent any individual from winning.”

He further added: “We are here to provide a fair and credible election. Whoever the people vote for will win, and that is our expectation. In the past, failing to show favouritism could jeopardise one's job. Officers were often told to favour certain people, and failing to do so caused problems.”

He further said: “Now, showing favouritism will lead to difficulties. The situation has completely reversed. This election will not be like before. We warn that we will remain firm on this matter and not compromise."

The workshop was chaired by Sylhet Regional Election Officer Mohammad Nurul Alam.

Additional Secretary KM Ali Newaz from the Election Commission Secretariat, Moulvibazar Deputy Commissioner Israil Hossain, Joint Secretary Moin Uddin Khan from the Election Commission Secretariat, Deputy Secretary and Project Director Muhammad Mostafa Hasan, and Additional Superintendent of Police Sudarshan Kumar Roy also spoke at the workshop as special guests.

Heads of various institutions also participated in the workshop.
