Dhaka, Jan 14 (V7N) —Detective Branch (DB) chief Rezaul Karim Mallik has vowed to bring "top criminals" including Imam-ul-Hasan alias Picchi Helal and Sanjidul Islam Imon to justice.

“We are ensuring strict vigilance to maintain law and order in the city. Criminals including Picchi Helal and Imon will not be able to evade the law. Our efforts are on and they will be arrested soon," he said at a press briefing at the DMP Media Center on Tuesday.

Both criminals have been accused in cases involving murder and mugging, including a recent case over an attack on two businessmen in the city’s Elephant Road area recently where Imon was named as the prime suspect.

Additional Commissioner of DMP and also chief of DB Rezaul Karim said extortionists and muggers have no place in the country.

“Police will act with an iron fist to eliminate such elements. Intelligence surveillance has been intensified across the capital and other places,” he added.

In the past 24 hours, the DB has arrested 27 people and recovered firearms, foreign pistols, magazines and ammunition, he said.

“I am not afraid of any threat while bringing criminals to justice,” Rezaul said adding, “I have always served the country and its people with integrity and will continue to do so.”
