Dhaka, Mar 09 (V7N)- Road Transport and Bridges Adviser Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan has said CCTV cameras will be installed at Dhaka's bus and river terminals for passenger security during Eid-ul-Fitr travel.
To ensure a smooth Eid journey, road repairs will be completed as much as possible by the 15th Ramadan, the adviser told reporters on Sunday.
He said: "Road repairs must be completed before Eid, and the necessary locations have been identified. As much road repair work as possible will be done by the 15th Ramadan to ensure a smooth Eid journey."
"During Eid, around 10 to 15 million people travel to their villages. CCTV cameras will be installed at six bus terminals in Dhaka and river terminals. This will allow for real-time monitoring of any issues passengers face or any instances of harassment," he added.
Fouzul said: "We hope traffic congestion will be reduced this time. Transport owners have assured us that there will be no black-market ticket sales since the holiday period is long. Those traveling home can adjust their travel dates accordingly."
To prevent highway robberies, the number of highway police officers will be increased, and all traffic police personnel will remain on duty on the roads, the adviser added.
